Health & Fitness Routine: How to Spice it Up!

Health & fitness routines are something that always comes to our attention once the weather starts warming up. The winter blues are finally coming to an end as we jump ahead to spring! The beginning of a new season is the perfect time to think about changing up your health & fitness routine. Getting stuck within the same routine can get very boring and lead to giving up on a healthy lifestyle. However, there is no better way to kick off spring than by revamping your health & fitness routine. Check out these great ideas below and get a fresh start on a healthier life style today!

1. Ditch the Junk Food in Your Fridge and Pantry.

Get rid of the sugary cereals and snacks. Even though they taste delicious, the pop-tarts, Cheetos and other junk food in your pantry have little to no nutritional value. Setting up a weekly meal plan with healthy protein such as fish or chicken, fresh vegetables and fruit will automatically make you feel better and have more energy for your health & fitness routine!

2. Schedule a Physical Therapy scan.

Physical Therapy is your one stop shop at establishing a great health & fitness routine. Even though you might feel perfectly fine, scheduling a physical therapy scan is super important in developing a work-out routine suitable for yourself. If you have an injury, go to a Physical Therapist to heal so you can challenge your body with no pain, gain confidence, youthful appearance and elevate energy levels. We are experts in movement and exercise for those who have or have had injury. We are also performance enhancement specialists for people who just want to get better, faster, leaner, or stronger.

3. Drink more water!

Get a high quality water bottle that you can take with you on the go. If you have a hard time drinking water throughout the day, add some flavor to your water. You can add anything from lemons, grapefruit, mint and berries to make your water taste yummy so that you want to drink it. Another tip to assure drinking more water is drinking a glass of water after every bathroom break. Every time you use the bathroom throughout the day, get into the habit of drinking a glass of water immediately after. This will get you into a good habit of drinking water throughout the day and stay hydrated.

4. Join a Fitness Class
.

There is no better way to spruce up a work-out routine like joining a fitness class. Look up some fitness classes at your local gym or around your area that works with your fitness goals. Working out with other people is much more motivating than hitting the elliptical by yourself. Try something new like Medical Fitness with Lilly PT’s own personal trainer, Troy Phillips! We are offering a FREE 15-minute health and fitness consultation for anyone who mentions this blog post until the end of April. Call (425) 224-2476 for more information.

5. Explore the Great Outdoors!

Take advantage of the Pacific Northwest’s sunshine and get outside! Enjoy some beautiful hikes, go on cycling tours, or join a paddle or rafting club. There are plenty of amazing outdoor activities in Washington to incorporate into your health & fitness routine. Check out a list of activities here!

6. Go on a Shopping Spree.

Investing in a new pair of work-out shoes and clothes is one of the best ways to get motivated for creating a successful work out plan. Having a proper pair of work out shoes is very important in preventing injuries and improving performance while exercising. Picking out some fun and comfortable new work-out clothes is not only just fun, but it can also help boost your confidence. Finding great clothes that fit right and make you feel good is a great way to kick off a successful fitness journey.

7. Change up Your Tunes!

Music is a great way to get yourself pumped up and in the zone to begin a great work out! Updating your work-out playlist is an essential part in getting into a good pace and keeping the pace up throughout your exercise. Adding some pump-up songs into your playlist will keep you motivated to complete your exercise and give it your all every time!
