Sciatic Nerve Pain and How to Stop it!

March 10, 2017 By Lilly Bojic

Sciatic Nerve Pain Struggles

Sciatic nerve pain can be stubborn condition that is hard to heal, especially if it is chronic. Recently, I had a patient with chronic Sciatic nerve pain walk in for help with his condition. He shared his long struggle, which lasted 16 years. He was in pain and was unable to bend forward without shooting pain. He tried everything from acupuncture, chiropractic treatment, and medication. All these treatments only gave him short term relief.

Hopeful for Sciatica Nerve Pain Relief

One day he walked in with the VIP voucher a friend gave to him. He had very little hope that anything else could make a difference. He was unable to sit, drive, lift, bend forward and even lay in bed without pain. His right leg was significantly weak and difficult to control.  By the end of the first session, this patient had full lumbar range and was able to bend forward and touch his toes. His sciatica pain was relieved and he was done with therapy in six sessions.

How to get FAST Sciatica pain relief results:

  • Skilled manual work for alignment correction, improved soft tissue, joint and nerve mobility.
  • Cold laser for decreased nerve root swelling and improved nerve healing.
  • BioQ pulse for improved circulation, pain control, energy production, healing and normalization of sciatic nerve.
  • Multifunctional movement (combination of Yoga and Martial arts) for fast abdominal, core and hip strengthening and improved mobility.

My Passion for Sciatic Nerve Treatment

I have 10+ years of experience treating sciatic nerve. My passion for treating Sciatica is stemmed from the fact that my mother developed severe radiating low back pain while I was in high school. My mom’s condition is what introduced me to this profession and made me want to become a Physical Therapist in the first place.

Sciatic Nerve Pain Causes and Symptoms:

Causes of Sciatica Pain:

  • Repetitive stress
  • Core and hip weakness
  • Spinal instability
  • Poor alignment
  • Poor body mechanics
  • Prolonged sitting.

Symptoms of Sciatica:

  • Low back pain spreading down the leg
  • Inability to sit, bend or lift pain free.

Long-Term Sciatica Relief

Be wary of prolonged steroid and pain medication use since they mask symptoms and can make condition worse.  Some other conventional treatments such as acupuncture, chiropractic and massage alone often do not provide the “full package” of relief. These treatments also do not address all of the aspects of this complex condition. To resolve this condition long-term, you have re-balance the musculoskeletal system, learn how to take care of your back and promote nerve healing. A quick tip you can do on your own to help this condition heal is to maintain good posture at all times, start core strengthening and hip stretching. Follow the links below for easy exercises!
