Beat the Holiday Bloat

December 31, 2018 By Lilly Bojic

Beat the Holiday Bloat

It’s easy to overdo it with holiday food this time of year. Don’t worry, we have some easy solutions for you to beat the holiday bloat!
1. Stretch your belly.
If our digestive system is irritated from excessive salt, sugar, or alcohol intake (or just too large of a meal), things may have trouble passing. Help move things along with some simple stretches. While lying on your back, hug your knees to your chest. Twist your torso while maintaining good posture. Follow along with our video below to learn some moves.
2. Drink plenty of water.
It’s easy to become dehydrated this time of year. Drink an extra glass of water for every sweet treat, salty snack, large meal, caffeinated or alcoholic beverage. Look for signs of dehydration such as dry skin, dark colored urine, or teeth marks on the tongue. For tips on drinking more water click here.
3. Take a break from salt, sugar, and processed foods.
It’s okay to treat yourself. Just don’t let it become a habit. If you are planning a large meal, make the other meals that day a little smaller. Try to add vegetables to each meal, fresh or frozen best. Canned or preserved vegetables lose a lot of vitamin and mineral content. If you have a day where all rules are broken, don’t fret. Start fresh the next day. You can beat the holiday bloat!

Start the New Year off healthy! We are having a FREE headache and neck pain workshop for anyone struggling with pain. Learn what is CAUSING your pain/problem, 3 things you should start doing NOW, the #1 danger that makes it worse, and the best treatment options for fast relief. It will be held on Tuesday, January 15th at 6pm. RSVP here.
